Landing Zone Safety Video
Helicopters in the Carson
Road, Woodleaf area on the 25th of March caused concern about what was going on.
What it was was a video production. North Carolina Baptist Hospital's AirCare
helicopter, crew, and flight nurses were updating the hospital's Landing Zone Safety
video. Actors for the event included
members of Woodleaf Fire
Department, Rowan EMS, Rowan County Rescue Squad, Rowan County Fire Marshal's Office and
the Rowan County Sheriff's Office.

Guy Maher, an AirCare pilot, also runs his
own video production company from his home in Kannapolis and is producing the video as he
did the first edition of the training tape which was coordinated by Flight Nurse Nancy
Eubanks.

Copies of the tape for use in education with various emergency
responders will be available, hopefully, this summer. The videotaping was done both
in daylight and at night to simulate all types of conditions, paying particular attention
to avoiding power
lines and other obstacles which frequently
are present on accident scenes. Rowan County Rescue Squad's light plant on
Rescue-911 was put to good use illuminating the scene for the nighttime shots.

Medical first responders from Woodleaf Fire Department got lots of practice in
moving simulated patients back and forth to the helicopter for the taping,
while EMS paramedics and AirCare Flight Nurses administered treatment.
Our thanks to all the emergency personnel who helped out with the video taping.
